Baked Potato

A baked potato? Say less 🥔🔥
Here’s how to make one that’s crispy on the outside, fluffy like a cloud on the inside.


The Perfect Baked Potato

Oven method (best flavor)

Ingredients

  • Russet potatoes (the GOAT for baking)
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Salt (coarse or kosher)

Steps

  1. Heat oven: 425°F (220°C)
  2. Scrub & dry the potatoes really well.
  3. Poke holes 4–6 times with a fork (steam escape).
  4. Oil + salt: Rub lightly with oil, sprinkle generously with salt.
  5. Bake directly on the rack (or on a tray below to catch drips).
  6. Bake 45–60 min, until a knife slides in easily.
  7. Optional but elite:
    • Slice open
    • Fluff the inside with a fork
    • Add a tiny pat of butter
    • Put back in the oven 5 minutes

Quick Methods (still solid)

Microwave (fast)

  • Poke holes, microwave 5–7 min (flip halfway)
  • Finish in oven or air fryer 5–10 min for crispy skin

Air Fryer

  • 400°F for 35–40 min
  • Flip halfway

Topping Ideas (classic → chaotic)

  • Butter + sour cream + chives
  • Cheddar + bacon
  • Greek yogurt + garlic + herbs
  • Chili + cheese
  • Broccoli + cheese
  • Cottage cheese + black pepper (don’t knock it 👀)
