Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (optional for a little tang)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Marinate the chicken:
    • Place chicken in a shallow dish or ziplock bag.
    • Pour half the sauce over chicken, and let marinate at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours).
  3. Cook the chicken:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Cook chicken for 5–7 minutes per side (depending on thickness) until cooked through.
  4. Add the remaining sauce:
    • Pour the remaining sauce into the pan and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
    • Spoon sauce over chicken to glaze.
  5. Serve:
    • Slice chicken and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
    • Serve with steamed rice, stir-fried veggies, or a salad.
