Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Posted on February 12, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and delicious Teriyaki Chicken recipe you can make at home — tender, flavorful, and slightly sticky, just like in restaurants.

🐔 Teriyaki Chicken

Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin (or rice wine)
  • 2 tbsp sake (optional, can substitute with water)
  • 1–2 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tsp water (optional, for thicker sauce)
  • Sesame seeds & chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Chicken

  • Pat chicken dry.
  • Cut into bite-sized pieces if desired.
  • Lightly season with salt and pepper.

2️⃣ Make the Sauce

  • In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, ginger, and garlic.

3️⃣ Cook the Chicken

  • Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook chicken until golden brown on both sides (5–7 minutes depending on thickness).

4️⃣ Add the Sauce

  • Pour the sauce into the pan.
  • Simmer 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens and chicken is cooked through.
  • Optional: mix cornstarch and water, then add to pan to thicken the sauce further.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  • Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.

💡 Tips for Extra Flavor

  • Marinate chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking for deeper flavor.
  • Chicken thighs stay juicier than breasts.
  • Broil 1–2 minutes at the end for a glazed finish.
