Amish Chicken and Green Beans Bake

Posted on April 1, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a delicious, classic-style recipe for Amish Chicken and Green Beans Bake—a hearty, comforting dish that combines tender chicken with fresh green beans and creamy, savory flavors.

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 lb fresh or frozen green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup fried onions (for topping, optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare Chicken
    • Lightly season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and paprika.
    • In a skillet, heat butter or oil and brown the chicken 2–3 minutes per side (it will cook further in the oven).
  3. Prepare Green Beans
    • If using fresh green beans, boil or steam them for 5–7 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Make the Creamy Sauce
    • In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, chopped onion, garlic, and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well.
  5. Assemble the Bake
    • In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer the green beans.
    • Place the browned chicken on top of the beans.
    • Pour the creamy sauce over the chicken and beans evenly.
  6. Bake
    • Cover with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.
    • Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese and fried onions on top, and bake another 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve
    • Let it rest 5 minutes before serving. Perfect with mashed potatoes or a fresh salad.

This dish is a comforting, one-dish meal in classic Amish style—creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor.

If you want, I can also give a lighter, healthier Amish-style version that’s lower in calories but just as flavorful. Do you want me to do that?
