Creamed corn

Posted on April 1, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, creamy, and comforting creamed corn recipe that’s simple to make and perfect as a side dish:

Creamed Corn

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or whole milk for lighter version)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (optional, for thicker creaminess)
  • 1–2 tsp sugar (optional, enhances sweetness)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. Cook the Corn
    • In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
    • Add corn and cook 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly tender.
  2. Add Cream
    • Stir in heavy cream (or milk) and sugar if using.
    • Bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Thicken (Optional)
    • If you want thicker creamed corn, mix 1 tbsp flour with 1–2 tbsp of the cream to make a slurry, then stir into the corn.
    • Cook 2–3 more minutes, stirring until thickened.
  4. Season and Serve
    • Add salt and pepper to taste.
    • Garnish with parsley or chives if desired. Serve hot.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, sauté a small diced onion or garlic with the butter before adding corn.
  • Using fresh corn in season gives the sweetest, most natural flavor.
  • For a cheesy twist, stir in 1/4 cup shredded cheddar or parmesan before serving.

✅ Takeaway: Creamed corn is a rich, comforting side that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, fried chicken, or holiday meals.

I can also give a super-easy 10-minute microwave version of creamed corn if you want a quick weekday option.
