Cream puffs are light pastry shells filled with rich custard or cream—famous in Italian-style desserts.

🧂 Ingredients

For pastry (choux)

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)

🍮 Custard filling

  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter (for smoothness)

🔥 Instructions

1. Make choux pastry

  • Boil water + butter + salt
  • Add flour all at once, stir fast until dough forms
  • Cook 1–2 minutes until it leaves pan sides
  • Cool slightly
  • Add eggs one by one, mixing until smooth and glossy

2. Bake puffs

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F)
  • Pipe or spoon small rounds onto tray
  • Bake 20–25 minutes until golden and puffed
  • Do NOT open oven early

🍮 3. Make custard

  • Mix milk, sugar, cornflour, egg yolks
  • Cook on low heat until thick
  • Add vanilla + butter
  • Cool completely

4. Fill cream puffs

  • Cut puff or poke hole
  • Fill with custard using piping bag
  • Dust with powdered sugar 🍬

  • Chill before serving ❄️
  • Top with chocolate drizzle 🍫
  • Or add whipped cream for extra richness
