Girl Scout Cookies

Posted on April 14, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a copycat “Girl Scout Cookies” recipe, since the official recipes from Girl Scouts of the USA are not publicly released. These are homemade versions that taste very close to the originals.

🍫 Homemade Thin Mints (most popular)

Ingredients

Cookies:

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Chocolate coating:

  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1–2 tsp peppermint extract (optional, for stronger mint flavor)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (for smooth coating)

Instructions

  1. Make dough: Cream butter + sugar, then add egg, vanilla, peppermint.
  2. Mix in flour, cocoa, and salt until a dough forms.
  3. Chill dough for 30–60 minutes.
  4. Roll out thin (about ¼ inch) and cut into small circles.
  5. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. Melt chocolate with coconut oil and peppermint.
  7. Dip cookies, place on parchment paper, and let set.

🍯 Homemade Samoas (Caramel Coconut Cookies)

Ingredients

  • Shortbread cookies (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups shredded coconut
  • 1 cup caramel sauce or melted caramels
  • 1–2 cups melted chocolate

Steps

  1. Toast coconut until golden.
  2. Mix coconut with caramel.
  3. Spread on cookies.
  4. Drizzle or dip in chocolate.
  5. Let set until firm.

🍪 Tips for best results

  • Chill dough before baking for sharper shapes.
  • Use high-quality cocoa for richer flavor.
  • Keep cookies thin for that classic “crisp snap.”

If you want, I can also give you recipes for Tagalongs (peanut butter patties) or Do-si-dos (peanut butter sandwich cookies).
