…that you are going to suffer? That’s a very old superstition, but it isn’t medically true.
Ringing in the ears is usually called tinnitus (or sometimes temporary ear ringing). It can happen for lots of normal, non-mystical reasons, such as:
- Exposure to loud noise (concerts, headphones, machinery)
- Earwax buildup
- Stress or fatigue
- Ear infections or fluid changes
- Certain medications
- Blood pressure changes
Most of the time, it’s not a sign of anything supernatural or predictive—just a signal that something in the hearing system is temporarily off.
When it does matter
You should get it checked if:
- It lasts more than a few days
- It keeps coming back often
- It affects only one ear strongly
- It comes with dizziness, hearing loss, or pain
Otherwise, occasional ringing is very common and usually harmless.
If you want, tell me how often you’re experiencing it and I can help narrow down the likely cause.
