Mongolian Noodles

Posted on April 20, 2026 by Admin

Mongolian noodles are a bold, savory stir-fried dish—garlicky, slightly sweet, and usually tossed with soy-based sauce. Despite the name, it’s more of a Chinese-American style dish than something traditionally Mongolian.

🍜 Easy Mongolian Noodles (at home)

Ingredients

  • 200–250 g noodles (egg noodles or spaghetti work fine)
  • 250 g beef (thinly sliced) or chicken
  • 3–4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (optional, minced)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Spring onions (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Cook noodles
Boil noodles, drain, and set aside.

2. Cook meat
Heat oil in a pan or wok. Add beef and cook on high heat until browned. Remove and set aside.

3. Make sauce
In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Stir briefly, then add soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce, and chili flakes.

4. Combine
Return beef to the pan, add noodles, and toss everything together until well coated.

5. Finish
Top with chopped spring onions and serve hot.

🔥 Flavor tips

  • Add capsicum or carrots for crunch
  • Use dark soy sauce for deeper color
  • A splash of vinegar or lemon can balance sweetness

Variations

  • Spicy version: add green chilies or chili garlic sauce
  • Vegetarian: swap meat for mushrooms or tofu
  • Saucy version: add a little broth + cornstarch slurry

Fun fact

The name “Mongolian” is popularized by dishes like Mongolian beef, but it doesn’t actually come from traditional Mongolian cuisine.

If you want, I can give you a desi-style spicy Mongolian noodles recipe or a restaurant-style version with thick glossy sauce.
