Old-fashioned orange candy

Posted on April 4, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple recipe for Old-Fashioned Orange Candy—sweet, tangy, and perfect for homemade treats:

🍊 Old-Fashioned Orange Candy

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tbsp light corn syrup (optional, prevents crystallization)
  • Zest of 1 orange (for flavor)
  • ¼ tsp orange extract (optional, for extra punch)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare a pan: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Combine sugar, water, and corn syrup in a small saucepan.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  4. Add orange zest and continue to cook without stirring until the mixture reaches hard crack stage (~150°C / 300°F). You can use a candy thermometer.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in orange extract if using.
  6. Pour onto prepared sheet and let cool slightly.
  7. Once partially set, cut or break into small pieces.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.

✨ Tips

  • Work quickly when pouring; the candy hardens fast.
  • For extra color, add a drop of orange food coloring.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep it crisp.

If you want, I can give you a microwave version of orange candy that’s even faster—ready in under 15 minutes!

Do you want me to do that?
