Two-Ingredient Reed Diffuser

Posted on April 14, 2026 by Admin

A two-ingredient reed diffuser is a simple DIY way to scent a room using just a fragrance oil and a carrier liquid. It’s cheap, easy, and customizable.

🧪 What you need (only 2 ingredients)

  1. Fragrance oil or essential oil (your scent choice)
    • Examples: lavender, vanilla, citrus, eucalyptus
  2. Carrier liquid
    • Best option: fractionated coconut oil
    • Alternative: light baby oil (odorless)

🪵 Basic recipe

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) carrier oil
  • 15–30 drops essential/fragrance oil (adjust for strength)

🧴 How to make it

  1. Pour the carrier oil into a small glass bottle or jar (narrow opening works best).
  2. Add your essential or fragrance oil.
  3. Swirl or gently shake to mix.
  4. Insert reed sticks (bamboo skewers also work if needed).
  5. Flip reeds after a few hours to start the scent diffusion.

💡 Tips for better results

  • Flip reeds every 2–3 days to refresh scent.
  • Use more reeds for stronger fragrance.
  • Place in small rooms for best effect (bathroom, bedroom).
  • Replace oil every 3–4 weeks for best performance.

If you want, I can also give you luxury-style scent combinations (like hotel scents) or a version using alcohol for stronger diffusion.
